Best Picture nominations included the Midnight Cowboy (winner), Anne of the Thousand Days, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Hello Dolly!, and Z. The Best Actor Oscar went to John Wayne in True Grit and the Best Actress Oscar went to Maggie Smith in Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
