56th Academy Awards

The 56th Annual Academy Awards ceremony was held on April 9, 1984 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Best Picture nominations included Terms of Endearment (winner), Tender Mercies, The Big Chill, The Dresser, and The Right Stuff. The Best Actor Oscar went to Robert Duvall in Tender Mercies and the Best Actress Oscar went to Shirley MacLaine in Terms of Endearment.
