33rd Academy Awards

The 33rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony was held on April 17 – 1961 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Best Picture nominations included The Apartment (winner), Elmer Gantry, Sons and Lovers, The Alamo, and The Sundowners. The Best Actor Oscar went to Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry and the Best Actress Oscar went to Elizabeth Taylor in Butterfield 8.
