55th Academy Awards

The 55th Annual Academy Awards ceremony was held on April 11, 1983 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Best Picture nominations included Gandhi (winner), E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Missing, The Verdict, and Tootsie. The Best Actor Oscar went to Ben Kingsley in Gandhi and the Best Actress Oscar went to Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice.
