Best Picture nominations included Platoon (winner), A Room with a View, Children of a Lesser God, Hannah and Her Sisters, and The Mission. The Best Actor Oscar went to Paul Newman in The Color of Money and the Best Actress Oscar went to Marlee Matlin in Children of a Lesser God.
